VISION COMPLICATIONS OF "TYPE 2" DIABETES

Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness in the United States. The most common vision complication from diabetes is diabetic retinopathy. This condition causes blood vessels to become blocked and/or to leak into the eye.

It's as serious as it sounds.

According to The National Institute of Health, diabetic retinopathy accounts for between 12,000 and 24,000 cases of new blindness each year. Fortunately, early diagnosis is the answer. Other vision complications from diabetes include: macular edema, glaucoma, and cataracts.

Be sure you receive a dilated eye exam from your eye care provider . . . annually. At Nationwide Vision, we believe everyone deserves a lifetime of great vision!
